2026 Pre-Season Testing: Where We Stand
Pre-season testing wraps up ahead of the 2026 IMSA campaign. Mason Filippi gives an inside look at what the data says and what to expect when the season goes green.
Pre-season testing is where championships are built or lost before the first green flag is ever waved.
The 2026 IMSA pre-season program for both the WeatherTech and Michelin Pilot Challenge programs is now complete, and I can say with confidence that we are in the best position I've been in heading into a new season.
On the GT3 side with DXDT Racing, we've completed three test sessions with the Corvette Z06 GT3.R across two different circuits. The work has been focused on long-run pace and tire degradation modeling — the kind of data that defines strategy during a three or four-hour WeatherTech race. What the data shows is encouraging. Our race pace is consistently within the window of the front-running GTD programs, and our tire consumption numbers give the engineers confidence that we can execute aggressive strategies without compromising the car in the final stages of a race.
The Hyundai Elantra N TCR program has gone through a setup evolution over the winter. The engineers at Hyundai Motorsport have found areas of development in the car's aero package and suspension geometry that we believe will translate to improved performance specifically in the low-speed technical sections that defined several decisive moments in last year's championship.
Physically and mentally, I feel ready. The dual program demands more from a preparation standpoint than a single-series campaign. Two different cars, two different engineer relationships, two different team cultures to navigate. The pre-season period has been about building those relationships and aligning on shared objectives.
The 2026 season starts in a matter of weeks. Everything is pointed at one thing: winning.
