Track Facts
VIR originally opened in 1957 but closed in 1974 due to financial difficulties. It was completely rebuilt and reopened in 2000 under new ownership.
The circuit is set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in southern Virginia, creating one of the most scenic settings in American motorsport.
The Oak Tree hairpin and the demanding Climbing Esses are the defining technical challenges of the full course layout.
VIR offers multiple configurations ranging from 1.6 miles to the full 3.27-mile Grand Course, used for IMSA WeatherTech events.
The facility also operates a world-class driver's school and is one of the premier performance driving destinations in the eastern United States.
